My First Expectations for My First Year as a Teacher

I hope that my first year as a teacher will be successful. I plan on using my PLN in order to help me in tough situations. As a new teacher, I can't expect to change the world the first day on the job. I've got to realize that there will be good and bad days, and I have to learn from them. I hope to make an impact on my students, and I pray that everyday they come into my classroom they learn something they didn't know the day before.

Classroom Blog

When I become a teacher, I plan on having a blog for my class and for the students that are taking my class. The students will find assignments and different topics that they will have to research and write about in class. Hopefully this will teach my students at an early age how to use a blog as a learning tool at an early age.

Communicating with Parents

Most moms and dads work now a days, and don't have a lot of free time. I think a good way to help communicate with them besides sending a letter home or telephone would be using e-mail or Skype. Skype is very easy to use, and it's free. The parent can talk to me, and do things around the house like cook or fold clothes at the same time. I think it will be very important to stay in touch with my students parents, so they will know what is going on in their child's life.

Podcast

When I become a teacher, I will introduce podcast and video cast to my students. I think it will help them learn somewhat easier. I will also teach them how to do them as well. Students want to be challenged and I think podcast can do that. I will assign projects that the students will have to do by wither podcast or video cast.

iTunes U

I think iTunes will be very useful in my classroom. Most children have an iPod anyway so they will already have iTunes and know how to use it. They can use iTunes U as a research and learning tool to help them in my class. It's a different way for them to learn how to use technology and it will be fun for them as well.

Google Earth and Timeline

As a Social Studies teacher, I think that Google Earth and Time Toast will be very useful. Google Earth will be a different and fun way for my students to learn how to locate where certain areas of the world are. It will help keep them interested in the class because they will be using technology and not looking at the same old map that's in a book. Time Toast will be an easier way to learn when things happened in the correct order, and will be a different way to learn it instead of memorizing it from the textbook.
